Des Moines, Iowa– Representatives of the U.S. Army and TMC Transportation signed an agreement yesterday to provide priority hiring status to qualified Soldiers participating in the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program.  During the ceremony, TMC employees in attendance who served in the U.S. Military were honored in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of the All-Volunteer Force.

Maj. Gen. Allen. We are proud of our partnerships like this that enable our recruiters to offer applicants quality employment opportunities during and after their Army service.”

“Hiring veterans has always made sense for TMC and this partnership will enable us to show Army veterans the many opportunities available to them at TMC,” says Glen McCravy, Executive Vice President of Risk Management and Human Resources. “We take every opportunity available to recognize our veterans.  During the ceremony 20 veterans from our Des Moines headquarters were recognized as part of the 40th Anniversary of the All Volunteer Force celebration. They represent just a fraction of our more than 600 veteran-employees.”

TMC Transportation honors and supports veterans through various programs including a VA approved driver apprenticeship program, which allows veterans to draw on their GI Education benefits; veteran recognition decal program; veteran transition mentoring; Soldier care packages and fundraising for various veteran-related charities. The company is also dedicated to supporting their National Guard and Reserve members, and has been honored many times by the Iowa Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for its support of these employees.

PaYS is a strategic partnership program between the Army and a cross section of U.S. corporations and public sector agencies. The Army’s list of corporate partners is growing.  TMC Transportation is the 464th company to partner in the PaYS program.

PaYS was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented young people who want to serve their country, but also want to help secure their future success once their Army service is complete.

Under terms of the agreement between the U.S. Army Recruiting Command and TMC Transportation, enlistees interested in gaining specific job training and qualifications will receive that training while in the U.S. Army.
